Zobo

A flavorful Nigerian zobo beverage is created by steeping dried hibiscus flowers, infused with ginger and cloves, and can be enjoyed hot or cold.

Instructions

  1. Combine dried hibiscus and cloves in a pot with 4 cups of water.

  2. Blend ginger with 1 cup of water until smooth, then incorporate it and an additional cup of water into the pot.

  3. Optionally, steep the covered mixture for 2 to 8 hours to enhance flavor and color.

  4. Bring the contents to a boil for 10-12 minutes, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.

  5. Remove from heat, cool completely, then strain.

  6. Transfer the strained liquid into jugs or bottles; sweeten with ginger simple syrup prior to serving.
