Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425 F and line a baking sheet.

  2. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.

  3. Cut cold butter into the mixture until it forms coarse crumbs.

  4. Stir in golden raisins, if desired.

  5. Add yogurt to the center well.

  6. Mix with a knife until a soft, non-sticky dough forms; do not overmix.

  7. Turn dough onto a floured surface and gently knead for 30 seconds.

  8. Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness, then cut into 8 triangles with a floured pastry cutter.

  9. Place scones on the sheet and brush with yogurt or sour cream.

  10. Sprinkle with sugar and bake for 12-15 minutes, until browned.

  11. Serve warm or cooled.
