Yakiniku Donburi: Japanese Beef and Vegetable Rice Bowl
A traditional Japanese rice bowl, yakiniku donburi features savory sautéed beef and vegetables served over rice, garnished with sesame seeds.

In a small pan, combine soy sauce, mirin, sugar, sesame oil, garlic, and both sesame seeds. Heat on medium-low for 2 minutes, then strain out garlic and set sauce aside.

Slice or prepare all vegetables (onion, bell peppers, mushrooms, broccoli, etc.) as needed.

Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high. Sauté the onion and prepared vegetables until tender; remove from pan and set aside.

Add more olive oil to the skillet if needed. Cook the beef to desired doneness.

Return vegetables to the pan with the beef. Pour some sauce over the beef and vegetable mixture, coating evenly. Serve over hot rice in bowls, with additional sauce on the side as desired.
