Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F.

  2. Combine whole wheat flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a large bowl. Incorporate water, milk, molasses, butter, and raisins, then gradually mix in bread flour to form dough.

  3. Knead dough on a floured surface for 8 minutes, adding flour as necessary.

  4. Transfer dough to a greased bowl, turning once to coat, then cover and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour.

  5. Punch down dough and knead for an additional 5 minutes.

  6. Divide dough into two equal portions, shape into loaves, and place in greased 9x5-inch loaf pans. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes or until doubled in size.

  7. Bake at 350 F for 40 minutes, or until the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
