Vegetarian Mushroom Gravy

Instructions

  1. Melt 4 tablespoons butter in a large skillet; sauté onion and mushrooms over medium-high heat until browned, about 2-3 minutes. Stir in flour and cook for a few minutes.

  2. Reduce heat to medium-low; whisk in vegetable broth, soy sauce, and poultry seasoning to avoid lumps.

  3. Simmer for 1-2 minutes, then reduce heat to low. Stir frequently, season with salt and pepper, and cook until desired thickness is achieved.

  4. Stir in the remaining tablespoon of butter and lemon juice, if desired. Remove gravy from heat. Adjust consistency as needed with water or broth to thin, or flour/cornstarch to thicken.
