Vegan Indian Basmati Rice Recipe

Soak basmati rice in water for 20 minutes, then drain.

In a sauté pan over medium heat, warm oil. Add cinnamon, bay leaf, cumin seeds, whole cloves, and peppercorns; toast for 10-15 seconds.

Stir in chopped onion and cook for 6-8 minutes until tender.

Add the drained rice, stirring to toast for 20-30 seconds until lightly browned.

Pour in 2 cups of water and bring to a boil.
