Vanilla Liqueur Recipe

Instructions

  1. Start boiling water in a medium saucepan.

  2. Add sugar to the boiling water, stirring until it dissolves and the syrup is clear.

  3. Split the vanilla bean lengthwise, then add it to the syrup, cover, and simmer on low for 5 minutes.

  4. Remove from heat and let the syrup steep for 8 hours, then remove the vanilla bean.

  5. Combine vodka and brandy in a 1-quart jar, then add 1/2 cup of the vanilla syrup.

  6. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds, then taste and add more syrup as desired.

  7. Bottle the prepared vanilla liqueur.
