Vanilla and Chocolate Chip Cupcakes

Preheat oven to 375 F/190 C; prepare cupcake tins by greasing, flouring, or lining.

In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and creamy.

Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each, then stir in vanilla.

Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate medium bowl.

Alternately add the dry mixture and milk to the wet ingredients on low speed, mixing just until a smooth batter forms without overmixing.

Stir chocolate chips into the batter, or add them after filling the cupcake liners.

Spoon batter into prepared tins, filling slightly more than half full.

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
