Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 F.

  2. Cream butter with sugar, vanilla, and water in a large bowl.

  3. Whisk flour and salt in a separate small bowl, then add to the creamed mixture and combine thoroughly.

  4. Mix in chopped nuts until incorporated.

  5. Shape walnut-sized dough pieces into crescents, place on parchment-lined sheets, and bake for 15-20 minutes until bottoms are golden.

  6. Cool cookies for 2 minutes on the baking sheet, then roll warm cookies in confectioners' or vanilla sugar.

  7. Once completely cool, roll cookies in confectioners' or vanilla sugar again.
