Use This Recipe to Make the Best Two-Layer White Cake

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Butter and flour two 9-inch cake pans, optionally lining the bottoms with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, oil, baking powder, salt, vanilla, and half the milk, mixing until blended.

Add egg whites and the remaining milk, then whisk until thoroughly blended.

Pour the batter into the prepared pans.

Bake for approximately 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Begin checking after 27 minutes.

Cool cakes in pans on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Invert onto racks and cool completely for at least one hour before frosting.
