Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F for toasting almonds, if desired.

  2. Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat, then stir in flour until smooth.

  3. Gradually whisk hot chicken broth into the flour mixture until smooth, then add salt and pepper.

  4. Heat half-and-half in a separate pan or microwave, then incorporate it into the sauce.

  5. Cook the sauce over low heat for 10 minutes, stirring continuously.

  6. To toast nuts: either spread almonds on a baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, or toast in an ungreased skillet over medium heat until golden.

  7. Serve the hot sauce over sliced turkey with rice or noodles, garnishing with toasted almonds if desired.
