Turkey Bolognese

A classic Italian-inspired dish features ground turkey as a leaner alternative to traditional beef Bolognese.

Instructions

  1. Start boiling water for pasta according to package directions.

  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet, then sauté onions for 5 minutes until softened.

  3. Stir in minced garlic and Italian seasoning, cooking for 1 minute until fragrant.

  4. Add ground turkey, chopped mushrooms, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes; cook for 10 minutes, crumbling the turkey, until it is no longer pink and mushrooms are cooked.

  5. Deglaze the pan with red wine, stirring to combine.

  6. Increase heat to medium-high, then stir in crushed tomatoes and tomato paste; cook, stirring occasionally, for 30 minutes until thickened.

  7. Stir fresh parsley into the thickened sauce.

  8. Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss to coat.

  9. Serve topped with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil.
