Instructions

  1. To make the sauce, combine pesto, mayonnaise, chili crunch, honey, and lemon juice in a small bowl; season with salt and pepper. Set aside.

  2. For the tuna mixture, process tuna, mayonnaise, mustard, lemon zest and juice, garlic, capers, anchovy, and dill until smooth and whipped. Stir in chopped onions, salt, and pepper.

  3. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large skillet over medium-high. Toast bread slices, two at a time, cut-side down, pressing them with a small skillet or pot until golden and crispy (2-3 minutes). Toast remaining slices.

  4. To assemble, spread pesto aioli on each toasted bread slice. Layer tuna mixture on two slices, then top with tomato and avocado. Add banana peppers if desired, close sandwiches, slice, and serve.
