Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F and butter a 1 1/2-quart baking dish.

  2. In a saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons butter, then whisk in flour, salt, and pepper; cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.

  3. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly until thickened.

  4. Stir in dried thyme, tuna and its reserved juice, celery, and green beans.

  5. Transfer the mixture to the prepared dish and bake for 25 to 30 minutes.

  6. Serve the casserole, optionally with hot rice or noodles.
