Traditional Yorkshire Curd Tart Recipe

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 F (170 C).

  2. Combine flour, butter, and salt; rub until crumbly. Stir in water until dough forms, adding more as needed.

  3. Wrap and chill dough for 15-30 minutes.

  4. Roll out dough to 1/4-inch thickness. Line an 8-inch tart tin, prick the base, and chill for 15 minutes.

  5. Line the tart case with baking paper and fill with baking beans. Bake for 15 minutes until pale golden, then cool.

  6. Cream butter and sugar until light; mix in eggs, nutmeg, mixed spice, and breadcrumbs.

  7. Fold curds, raisins, and currants into the mixture.

  8. Pour curd mixture into the prepared tart case, sprinkle with nutmeg, and bake for 30 minutes until golden brown.

  9. Let the tart cool slightly before serving.
