Traditional Peach Butter

A simple peach butter recipe requires fresh peaches, water, and sugar, and can be stored by refrigeration, canning, or freezing.

Instructions

  1. Place chopped peaches and water in a large saucepan.

  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 20 minutes until soft.

  3. Process the peaches through a food mill or sieve to remove skins.

  4. Stir sugar into the peach pulp.

  5. Cook the sweetened pulp in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat for 1 to 2 hours, stirring often, until very thick and it no longer runs off a spoon.
