Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F and lightly grease a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish.

  2. Boil onions covered in water for 10 minutes, then drain.

  3. Layer half of the tomatoes, onions, salt, pepper, basil, and cheese in the prepared casserole, then repeat for the remaining ingredients.

  4. Combine panko crumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the top of the casserole.

  5. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until the tomatoes are tender and the topping is golden brown.
