This Spumoni Lets Store-Bought Ice Cream Do the Hard Work

An easy spumoni layers store-bought ice cream with chocolate chunks, maraschino cherries, and pistachios for a vibrant frozen dessert.

Instructions

  1. Line a loaf pan with parchment paper and chill it in the freezer.

  2. Soften pistachio ice cream for 20 minutes.

  3. Spread half of the softened pistachio ice cream into the chilled pan, sprinkle with pistachios, then add the remaining pistachio ice cream and smooth the top.

  4. Freeze for 1 hour.

  5. While the pistachio layer freezes, soften the cherry vanilla ice cream 20 minutes before the hour is up.

  6. Spread half of the softened cherry vanilla ice cream over the frozen pistachio, add maraschino cherries, then layer with the remaining cherry vanilla and smooth.

  7. Freeze for 1 hour.

  8. While the cherry layer freezes, soften the chocolate ice cream 20 minutes before the hour is up.

  9. Spread half of the softened chocolate ice cream over the frozen cherry, sprinkle with chocolate chunks, then add the remaining chocolate ice cream.

  10. Place parchment paper on the surface and freeze for a minimum of 4 hours or overnight.

  11. To unmold, briefly warm the pan edges under hot water, then invert the spumoni onto a plate and remove the paper.

  12. Slice and serve.
