Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425 F.

  2. Beat eggs, half-and-half, sugar, and vanilla in a bowl, then pour into a shallow, 2-inch deep dish.

  3. Heat a griddle to medium-low and melt butter.

  4. Soak bread slices in custard for 10 seconds per side, letting excess drip off.

  5. Cook on the buttered griddle until both sides are golden brown, then transfer to a baking sheet.

  6. Bake the griddled French toast for 8 to 10 minutes, until the center custard is cooked.

  7. Serve immediately.
