Instructions

  1. Heat a large cast-iron skillet over medium heat and fry bacon until crispy.

  2. Remove bacon, drain on paper towels, and reserve some bacon grease in the skillet.

  3. Slice the doughnut in half crosswise, then toast the cut sides in the skillet until golden brown; set aside.

  4. Shape beef into a seasoned ball with salt and pepper.

  5. Return reserved bacon grease to the skillet, heat to medium-high, and add the beef. Cook until crispy (3-5 minutes).

  6. Flip the beef, smash it slowly, and cook for 5-10 minutes more until desired doneness.

  7. Flip the patty, add cheese, remove from heat, and cover for 2 minutes until the cheese melts.

  8. Assemble the burger by placing the cheeseburger patty on one doughnut half, topping with bacon, and covering with the other doughnut half. Serve immediately.
