Instructions

  1. Steep 2 tablespoons loose-leaf black tea, 1 star anise pod, 2 cardamom pods, 1/2 cinnamon stick, 1/8 vanilla bean, tamarind powder (to taste), and 1/4 teaspoon optional almond extract in boiling water for 5 minutes.

  2. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve, discarding the tea leaves and spices.

  3. Stir 1 tablespoon sugar and 1 tablespoon sweetened condensed milk into the strained tea until dissolved.

  4. Fill two tall glasses with ice and pour the tea over, leaving space at the top.

  5. Add additional ice if desired, then drizzle 1 teaspoon of evaporated milk over each glass.
