Texas Bean Bake With Ground Beef

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F.

  2. Fry bacon in a large skillet until crisp, then drain on paper towels and set aside.

  3. Remove most drippings from the skillet, then cook ground beef and chopped onion over medium heat until beef is no longer pink and onion is tender.

  4. Rinse and drain canned beans thoroughly.

  5. In a large bowl, combine the cooked beef and onion mixture with the rinsed beans.

  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and both sugars.

  7. Pour the sauce mixture over the beans and beef, then stir well to blend.

  8. Transfer the bean mixture to a 2 1/2- to 3-quart baking dish and sprinkle with the reserved crumbled bacon.

  9. Bake for about 1 hour.
