Teriyaki Sauce
A homemade sweet and savory Japanese-style teriyaki sauce can be prepared in 15 minutes, ideal for pairing with chicken, beef, or seafood.

Instructions

In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup soy sauce, 1/2 cup mirin, and 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, adjusting sugar to taste.

Stir in 1 teaspoon each of finely chopped fresh ginger root and garlic, if desired, over medium-high heat.

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to low and simmer for a few minutes until slightly thickened.

Remove the pan from heat and allow the teriyaki sauce to cool.

Strain the sauce to remove ginger and garlic pieces, if they were added.
