Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease an 8-inch springform pan.

  2. Blanch and finely grind the almonds.

  3. In a large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar, then add butter, flour, baking powder, and water, beating until combined.

  4. Stir the ground almonds and lemon zest into the batter.

  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 45 to 50 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.

  6. After the cake cools, decorate by dusting with confectioners' sugar through a cross or sword stencil.
