Homemade tahini is prepared from toasted sesame seeds, oil, and a touch of salt, blended to a smooth paste.

Preheat the oven to 350 F.

Toast sesame seeds in the preheated oven for 5 to 10 minutes, tossing often, until lightly colored, ensuring they do not brown or burn.

Alternatively, toast seeds in a dry skillet over medium heat for approximately 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until light in color.

Allow the toasted seeds to cool completely.

Process the cooled sesame seeds in a food processor; while blending, slowly add oil and continue processing for 2 minutes, incorporating more oil until a thick, pourable tahini forms.

Season with salt to taste.
