Sweet and Sour Pork With Pineapple

Instructions

  1. Combine sweet and sour sauce ingredients in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer, stirring constantly for about 25 minutes until thick.

  2. Marinate pork with soy sauces, rice wine, five-spice powder, white pepper, and minced garlic for 10 minutes.

  3. Mix in egg, corn flour, and all-purpose flour; refrigerate for 30 minutes.

  4. Heat oil to 325 F (170 C) in a wok or deep saucepan.

  5. Deep-fry pork in batches until golden brown, draining on paper towels.

  6. Remove excess oil, leaving 1 tablespoon; stir-fry garlic and onion over medium-high heat until fragrant.

  7. Add bell peppers and pineapple; stir-fry for 1-2 minutes.

  8. Return pork to the wok, add desired amount of sweet and sour sauce, and mix.

  9. Garnish with sesame seeds; serve with white rice, if desired.
