Swedish Nuts Recipe

Swedish nuts are a delightful make-ahead snack or appetizer featuring meringue-coated pecans baked in butter.

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 F.

  2. Beat egg whites until frothy. Gradually add salt and sugar until stiff peaks form, then stir in cinnamon and vanilla.

  3. Fold nuts into the meringue.

  4. Melt butter in a 15 x 10-inch jellyroll pan and spread the coated nuts over it.

  5. Bake for 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes, until nuts are light brown and all butter is absorbed.

  6. Cool, then store in an airtight container.
