Super Easy Almond Friand

Flavorful and easy to prepare, these small friand cakes are ideal for teatime or a simple snack.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F.

  2. Sift flour into a large bowl, then add sugar and ground almonds and stir.

  3. Whisk egg whites in a separate bowl until foamy.

  4. Add whisked egg whites and butter to the dry ingredients; stir until a thick batter forms.

  5. Lightly grease 6 small loaf tins, place them on a baking sheet, and fill each 3/4 full with batter.

  6. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until risen, golden brown, and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. Let cakes cool in tins for 5 minutes, then remove and cool completely on a wire rack.

  8. Dust with icing sugar, if desired.
