Strawberry Martini

An easy fresh fruit cocktail, featuring a homemade strawberry syrup, can be scaled up to a pitcher for summer gatherings.

Instructions

  1. Combine water and sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat; stir until dissolved.

  2. Add strawberries, reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring and breaking up strawberries until they break down and the syrup is bright red and flavorful.

  3. Remove from heat, then cool completely.

  4. Strain the cooled syrup through a fine mesh sieve into an airtight container.

  5. Pour gin, lemon juice, and strawberry syrup into a cocktail shaker.

  6. Fill the shaker three-quarters full with ice and shake for about 15 seconds until well-chilled and combined.

  7. Double strain the cocktail into a chilled coupe glass.

  8. Garnish with a sliced strawberry on the rim.
