Stovetop Salisbury Steak

A comforting and rich stovetop Salisbury steak offers an easy last-minute ground beef main dish, ideally served with mashed potatoes.

Instructions

  1. Combine egg, cracker crumbs, 2 tablespoons milk, onion soup mix, marjoram, salt, and pepper in a bowl, then incorporate ground beef.

  2. Form the beef mixture into 4 patties.

  3. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté onion and garlic for 6-7 minutes until tender and lightly browned, then remove from the skillet.

  4. Brown patties in the same skillet for 4-5 minutes per side until seared. Remove the patties.

  5. Add onion, garlic, undrained mushrooms, broth, soup, 1 cup milk, and Worcestershire sauce to the pan. Stir and bring to a simmer.

  6. Return patties to the skillet and simmer, uncovered, for 8-10 minutes until the meat is thoroughly cooked (160 F).

  7. Serve over rice, mashed potatoes, or noodles.
