Steamed Lobster

A quick and flavorful method yields tender steamed lobsters.

Instructions

  1. Start boiling 1.5 to 2 inches of salted water in a large stockpot with a trivet or steaming basket.

  2. Once the water is boiling, carefully place lobsters head-first into the pot.

  3. Cover immediately and steam for 10 minutes for 1-pound lobsters, 12 minutes for 1.25-pound, or 14 minutes for 1.5-pound, adding 2 minutes for every additional 0.25 pounds.

  4. Remove lobsters with tongs and let them rest for 5 minutes before cracking.

  5. Serve with melted butter and lemon wedges, if desired.
