Prepare the squash by removing the stem, then spiralize or julienne it into spaghetti-like strands and cut them to a manageable length.

Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat.

Add the prepared squash and garlic to the skillet; cook, stirring continuously, until the squash is slightly softened.

Stir in the chopped basil for 30 to 60 seconds, then season with salt and pepper to your preference.
