  1. Start boiling a large pot of salted water and cook pasta until al dente; reserve 1/2 cup cooking water, then drain pasta.

  2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion, 1 teaspoon salt, and red pepper flakes; cook for 3 minutes until translucent.

  3. Stir in garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant.

  4. Add white wine and stir until mostly evaporated, about 3 minutes.

  5. Incorporate drained tomatoes and fresh herbs, stirring for 3 minutes until combined and fragrant.

  6. Add the cooked pasta and reserved water; stir for 2 minutes until the pasta is warmed and the sauce slightly thickens, then season to taste.

  7. Toss in cooked shrimp.
