Instructions

  1. To make strawberry vodka: Wash and slice 1 1/2 cups of strawberries, add them to an infusion jar, and cover with vodka.

  2. Optionally, add 2 tablespoons of simple syrup, then shake well and store in a cool, dark place.

  3. Shake the strawberry-vodka mixture daily; after five days, taste and continue infusing for up to 14 days until the desired flavor is reached.

  4. Strain out the strawberries and bottle the infused vodka in a tight-sealing container.

  5. To make basil simple syrup: In a saucepan, combine equal parts sugar and water (e.g., 1 cup each) and bring to a boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves.

  6. Add 1/2 cup rinsed basil leaves, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.

  7. Remove from heat, keep covered, and let it infuse and cool for about an hour. Strain out the basil, then bottle and refrigerate the syrup for up to three weeks.

  8. To assemble the cocktail: Combine the strawberry-infused vodka, pear nectar, lemon juice, and basil syrup in a wine glass filled with ice.

  9. Stir thoroughly, then top with sparkling wine.

  10. Garnish with a basil leaf and strawberry before serving.
