Instructions
-
To make strawberry vodka: Wash and slice 1 1/2 cups of strawberries, add them to an infusion jar, and cover with vodka.
-
Optionally, add 2 tablespoons of simple syrup, then shake well and store in a cool, dark place.
-
Shake the strawberry-vodka mixture daily; after five days, taste and continue infusing for up to 14 days until the desired flavor is reached.
-
Strain out the strawberries and bottle the infused vodka in a tight-sealing container.
-
To make basil simple syrup: In a saucepan, combine equal parts sugar and water (e.g., 1 cup each) and bring to a boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
-
Add 1/2 cup rinsed basil leaves, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.
-
Remove from heat, keep covered, and let it infuse and cool for about an hour. Strain out the basil, then bottle and refrigerate the syrup for up to three weeks.
-
To assemble the cocktail: Combine the strawberry-infused vodka, pear nectar, lemon juice, and basil syrup in a wine glass filled with ice.
-
Stir thoroughly, then top with sparkling wine.
-
Garnish with a basil leaf and strawberry before serving.
