Spare Ribs With Hoisin Sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F (177 C).

  2. Cut spareribs into individual portions and place them in a shallow baking dish.

  3. Combine soy sauce, hoisin sauce, ketchup, rice wine or sherry, brown sugar, and garlic; pour this marinade over the spareribs.

  4. Cover the dish and marinate the ribs overnight in the refrigerator, turning occasionally to ensure thorough coating.

  5. Fill a shallow roasting pan with 1/2 inch of water and place it on the bottom rack of the preheated oven, then position the pork on a rack above the water.

  6. Separately, bring water to a boil, dissolve honey in it, and use this mixture to brush the spareribs several times during roasting.

  7. Roast for 30 minutes, or until the ribs begin shrinking and reach an internal temperature of 160 F (71 C).

  8. Remove the ribs, let them rest for 15 minutes, and serve.
