Spam and Egg Breakfast Onigirazu Recipe

Instructions

  1. If not using pre-cooked rice, cook 1 cup uncooked rice.

  2. Scramble an egg and cook it in a small non-stick pan with canola oil, folding to create a square omelet; set aside.

  3. Cook one Spam slice until golden brown in the same pan.

  4. Optionally, mix equal parts soy sauce and white sugar for a quick teriyaki sauce, then drizzle it over the Spam and cook for an additional minute.

  5. Lay a large piece of plastic wrap on a dry cutting board, then place dried seaweed on top. Form a diamond shape with 1/3 cup cooked rice in the center, sprinkling with roasted white sesame seeds.

  6. Layer the egg omelet and Spam over the rice, add enough cooked rice to cover the fillings, then fold the seaweed ends to form a flat, square rice ball.

  7. Slice the wrapped onigirazu in half for easier handling, or leave whole for on-the-go.
