Southern Red-Eye Gravy

Instructions

  1. Start boiling 1/2 cup black coffee.

  2. Fry 1 slice country ham in a skillet over medium heat until browned, then transfer the ham to a warm platter, leaving drippings in the skillet.

  3. Pour the boiling coffee into the skillet and deglaze by scraping the bottom and sides to dissolve any particles.

  4. Serve the red-eye gravy over the cooked ham.
