Southern Red-Eye Gravy

Start boiling 1/2 cup black coffee.

Fry 1 slice country ham in a skillet over medium heat until browned, then transfer the ham to a warm platter, leaving drippings in the skillet.

Pour the boiling coffee into the skillet and deglaze by scraping the bottom and sides to dissolve any particles.
