Southern Killed Lettuce Recipe
A traditional Appalachian Southern killed lettuce salad features fresh greens quickly wilted with hot bacon drippings and softened onions.

Wash and thoroughly dry greens, then place them in a serving bowl.

Heat bacon drippings with sliced onion in a skillet over medium heat until the onion softens.

Pour the hot onion and bacon mixture over the greens, then toss well to coat.
