Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugar for 2 minutes until light, then mix in egg, vanilla, and almond extract.

  2. Gradually incorporate flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt, then add sour cream, mixing until just combined without overmixing.

  3. Form the dough into a thick disc, wrap, and refrigerate for at least two hours.

  4. While the dough chills, cream butter and cream cheese until smooth, then gradually add confectioners' sugar, mixing until smooth.

  5. Mix in vanilla and salt for 2 minutes until the frosting is light and fluffy; cover and set aside.

  6. Preheat oven to 350F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

  7. Roll dough 1/4 inch thick on a floured surface, cut shapes, and transfer to prepared baking sheets.

  8. Bake cookies for 10-12 minutes until slightly puffed.

  9. Cool cookies on baking sheets for 10 minutes, then transfer to a rack to cool completely.

  10. Once completely cooled, frost the cookies and add sprinkles as desired.
