Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt.

  3. In a large bowl, beat melted butter with brown and granulated sugars until smooth, then beat in vanilla extract, a whole egg, and an egg yolk.

  4. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until blended.

  5. Fold in the chocolate chips, then cover the bowl and chill for 1 hour.

  6. Scoop dough mounds (using a 1 1/2-tablespoon scoop) onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.

  7. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until the edges are lightly browned and tops remain pale.
