Small Cake From Half Cake Mix

A simple guide to baking a smaller cake, cupcakes, or cake pops from half of a boxed cake mix.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F and spray an 8-inch square or round cake pan with nonstick baking spray.

  2. In a medium bowl, combine the cake mix, water, oil, and egg; mix until well combined, then beat for one minute at medium speed.

  3. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, or divide for half a dozen cupcakes.

  4. Bake for 25 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean and the cake pulls from the pan sides.

  5. Cool the cake completely on a wire rack, then dust with confectioners' sugar.
