Slow Cooker Pulled Ham With Carolina Mustard

Instructions

  1. Place the ham in a slow cooker.

  2. Combine vinegar, brown sugar, black pepper, and crushed red pepper; pour this mixture over the ham.

  3. Cover and cook the ham on LOW for approximately 9 hours until very tender, or on HIGH for 4 to 5 hours.

  4. Once cooked, discard any excess fat, bones, and liquids, then shred or chop the ham.

  5. Serve the shredded ham on sandwich buns with your preferred condiments and side dishes.

  6. For an optional South Carolina Mustard Sauce, combine 3/4 cup mustard, 2/3 cup vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, 2 to 3 tablespoons brown sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper in a saucepan.

  7. Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook gently for 20 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it has reduced by about one-third.
