Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat and sauté onion until soft.

  2. Season the roast and brown it on all sides in the skillet.

  3. Pour in beef broth or water and bring to a simmer.

  4. Transfer the roast, onions, and broth to a slow cooker, then cook on low for 6 hours.

  5. Drain liquids, add beans and barbecue sauce, then cook for 2 more hours or until beef is tender.
