Slow Cooker Polish Sausage and Cabbage Soup

Instructions

  1. Dice potatoes into 1/2-inch cubes and add them to the slow cooker.

  2. Cook diced bacon in a skillet until crisp (if using), drain, and add to the slow cooker.

  3. Brown diced sausage and onion in the same skillet over medium-high heat; drain and add to the slow cooker.

  4. Cook cabbage with 2 tablespoons butter in the skillet until browned; transfer to the slow cooker.

  5. Add chicken stock, and optional tomatoes and caraway seeds to the slow cooker.

  6. Cover and cook on low for 7 to 9 hours.

  7. Season with salt and pepper, then serve with crusty bread.
