Slow Cooker Applesauce

A simple slow-cooked applesauce that requires minimal effort, preparing itself in a crock pot while you attend to other tasks.

Instructions

  1. Prepare apples by washing them, then peel, core, and slice into 3/4-inch pieces if not using a food mill.

  2. In a slow cooker, combine the prepped apples with sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg if using.

  3. Separately, mix water and lemon juice, dissolving honey if using.

  4. Pour the water mixture over the apples in the slow cooker and stir well.

  5. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours or high for 3 hours, until the apples are very soft.

  6. Process the cooked apples using a food mill for desired texture, or purée for a smoother result.
