Simple Drop Dumplings for Stew

Instructions

In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.

Cut in 1 tablespoon softened unsalted butter and 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh parsley, if desired, then stir until blended.

Stir in 1/3 cup milk to form a wet, thick dough; add more milk if needed for drop consistency.

Heat beef or chicken stew in a large pot over medium-low heat until simmering.

Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the simmering stew, ideally on top of vegetables.

Cook uncovered for 10 minutes, then cover tightly and cook for another 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent scorching.

Serve immediately.
