Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 F with a large rimmed sheet pan inside, allowing it to heat for 5 additional minutes after reaching temperature.

  2. In a shallow bowl, whisk eggs with milk, sugar, salt, and optional vanilla and cinnamon.

  3. Soak each bread slice in the egg mixture, turning to coat both sides, then set aside.

  4. Carefully remove the hot sheet pan and melt butter evenly across it.

  5. Arrange the soaked bread on the buttered pan, return to the oven, reduce the temperature to 375 F, and cook for 15-20 minutes until golden brown on the bottom.

  6. Flip the bread and cook for an additional 6-8 minutes until browned on the other side; serve immediately.
