Salsa Española (Spanish Sauce)

An easy and popular Spanish sauce, Española sauce is ideal for serving with roasted or grilled meats like beef, steaks, or kabobs.

Instructions

  1. Chop onions, carrots, and leek, including some green portion.

  2. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add chopped vegetables and brown for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. While stirring, sprinkle flour into the vegetables and cook on low heat for 2-3 minutes.

  4. Slowly pour in beef broth, stirring continuously. Simmer uncovered for 45 minutes on low heat.

  5. Add salt to taste. Puree the vegetables until smooth, then strain the sauce through a sieve. Serve warm with roasted or grilled meats.
