Instructions

  1. For fresh passionfruit, halve them, scoop pulp into a microwave-safe bowl, heat for 30 seconds, then strain through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing out juice and discarding seeds.

  2. Combine the prepared passionfruit juice (or thawed frozen pulp), vinegar, sugar, and crushed garlic in a medium saucepan.

  3. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-low heat, then reduce and simmer for approximately 5 minutes until the sauce thickens.

  4. Remove from heat, then season the sauce with salt and optional pepper.

  5. To prepare a dessert version, omit garlic, vinegar, salt, and pepper, and use 1/2 cup sugar.
