Salam de Biscuiti (Romanian Salami Cookie) Recipe

Salam de Biscuiti is a Romanian unbaked cookie molded to resemble salami slices, often enjoyed during the Christmas season.

Instructions

  1. Heat milk with Turkish delight in a saucepan until melted, then remove from heat.

  2. Stir in half of the cocoa, biscuits, walnuts, and rum.

  3. In a separate bowl, combine softened butter with 5 tablespoons confectioners' sugar and 2 egg yolks.

  4. Add the butter mixture to the saucepan contents and mix well.

  5. Incorporate the remaining rum, cocoa, biscuits, walnuts, and chopped sour cherries.

  6. Whip egg whites to stiff peaks, then blend into the main mixture.

  7. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon confectioners' sugar and shredded coconut onto plastic wrap.

  8. Form the dough into a salami shape on the prepared plastic wrap and roll tightly.

  9. Chill for 6 to 7 hours.

  10. Remove plastic wrap and slice 1/2-inch thick before serving.
